Synopsis
A young couple, very much in love, get married and look forward
to a long-lasting relationship. Within a year the wife is diagnosed
with cancer, and she dies in the arms of her grieving husband.
It is here that the film begins. His voice-over tells the story
from that moment back to the first day he saw her.
Director’s
Notes
Everlasting Memories was originally intended to be a
feature script. We had Rupert Whitaker, a fellow student from
London Film Academy, in mind for the part of Ethan but as it was
proving to be difficult to find a suitable female actor for the
part of Helen, we decided to hold an audition. Many applied for
the part and about half of those turned up to audition. |

I finally decided that Hannah Murphy
was most suitable for the part. Later on we also found out that
there was a strong chemistry between the two lead actors and they
both proved to be quite convincing in their respective parts.
The film was shot by David Canelo, using a Canon XM2. The filming
was a slow process, as the story is quite demanding, and there
were many retakes.
The lights we used were not entirely appropriate, and as such
the interior scenes were over-lit. The resulting shots were a
bit ‘orangy’ in colour, although this was reasonably
corrected in post-production.
The original composer could not complete the score due to other
commitments and so our thanks must go to Aaryk Noctivagus, who
stepped in and offered his time and resources to complete the
score in a very brief period. |

The editing, which was done by Simone
Herbert, took a long time to be achieved. In all there were 5
re-cuts but it was a worthwhile process and the final product
is perfect, in my opinion.
Everlasting Memories was a no-budget film with the only
costs incurred being food and travel expenses for those involved,
and of course the hiring of equipment.
We intend to send it to Propeller TV, but the main motivation
for making this film was to build a Director’s Portfolio
with the intention of showing this to prospective producers and
financiers.
Thanks for taking an interest in this film. |
